Getting rid of old electronics in an environmentally friendly fashion, and at no cost, is a great way to celebrate Earth Day.

Hillside Centre is partnering with Island Return It to host their third annual Drive Up and Drop Off E-Waste Event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 22.

People from across the Capital Region are invited to bring their electronic waste to the Hillside Centre parking lot off of North Dairy Road for free disposal.

Electronic waste contains precious metals, glass, plastics and other valuable materials that can be recycled and reused, reducing the need to mine and manufacture raw materials. Rembmer to remove confidential information from devices. Check out islandreturnit.com/programs/electronics for a list of what’s acceptable.

Hillside Centre will also host a Plastic Bag Exchange, suggesting alternatives such as cotton totes and stainless steel water bottles will be available.
