Victoria crews extinguished an RV fire that engulfed the vehicle in the early hours of Monday (March 11) and may have been heard by those in the Burnside neighbourhood.
Victoria Fire members were dispatched to the Balfour Avenue scene around 2 a.m. and arrived to find the RV engulfed in flames as it was parked on the street. The large flames also ignited a nearby tree and overhead wires, but crews ensured it didn’t spread further.
Firefighters began by tacking the blaze using their engine’s water tank and hose before a second crew arrived and started dousing the vehicle in unison with those first on the scene.
Firefighters had to keep a safe distance as the RV was equipped with propane tanks. Three loud bursts could be heard during the suppression efforts as the vehicle’s tires ruptured.
Nobody was injured in the incident and the damage was mostly contained to the vehicles.
