Greater Victoria skaters bring home medals in Super Series competition

Greater Victoria skaters took home several trophies at a recent competition.

The 2024 Skate Canada B.C./Yukon Super Series Final was at the Capital News Centre Arena in Kelowna March 7 to 10, and the Juan de Fuca Skating Club had seven skaters competing in six events.

Two Juan de Fuca skaters brought home Super Series Starskate Pathway trophies, which are awarded at the final every March. Lucy Howland took home a silver in the Star 5 U13 Women’s and Eva Khamidullina took home a bronze in the Star 8 Women’s.

Results from the rest of the competition include:

• In the Star 5 U13 Women, Lucy Howland placed third, Madeline Evans placed ninth and Jovie Kurylo placed 35th.

• In the Star 6 Women, Lucy Howland placed second, Mia Lemire placed eighth, Madeline Evans placed tenth and Natalie Smith placed 11th.

• In Star 8 Women, Eva Khamidullina placed second.

• In the Star 9 Women Group, Julie Forslund placed fourth and Eva Khamidullina placed seventh.

• In the Juvenile Women U14, Julie Forslund placed first.
