Saanich’s Caledonian Distillery and Twa Dogs Brewery celebrates the launch of its amber ale this Friday.

Saanich’s Caledonian Distillery and Twa Dogs Brewery is ready for a party this Friday, and you’re invited.

As the celebrated local destination marks the launch of its Amber Ale this month – and its first anniversary for its distillery next month – this week they mark another milestone with the opening of the brewery-distillery floor for guests to enjoy a pint or wee dram.

Here’s five more reasons not to miss Friday’s festivities.

1. Cookeilidh is in the Still House – it wouldn’t be a party without music and the special event welcomes popular local Celtic band Cookeilidh, whose high-energy traditional and modernized tunes will get toes tapping. Entertainment goes from 6:30 p.m. to closing and better yet, there’s no cover charge!

2. Why in the still house? Victoria Caledonian Distillery & Twa Dogs Brewery is the Island’s only brewer/distiller licensed for guests to raise a glass on the brewery-distillery floor, and Friday’s party celebrates the floor’s opening to guests.

3. Prefer a pint to a dram? Twa Dogs Brewery also launches its fourth bomber this Friday: the new Gowden Locks Amber Ale. And the name? “Anna’s honey bliss lips and golden (“gowden”) locks bewitched the poet Robert Burns, captivating his thoughts and passions, believing her kiss to be more satisfying than the grain from heaven. This passionate amber ale is brimming with noble barley, her Gowden locks inspiring lust and a kiss that is sure to satisfy.”

4. It’s a special time. Throughout Friday afternoon and evening, enjoy specials on the full range of craft beers, beginning at 3 p.m.

5. Tours, tastings and master classes. Get a glimpse of coming tours, tasting options and master classes. With five-star Trip Advisor reviews, the brewery and distillery is already making a name for itself among enthusiasts. Eager to pass along their passion for the beers and single malt whiskies crafted on-site, tour-guides welcome visitors for entertaining, informative and experiential, 45-minute tours. Other tasty possibilities include a pairing program matching a selection of beers or whiskies with local, custom-crafted artisanal chocolates. And coming up, check out a special series of whisky master classes with level 3 sommelier Andrew Walls in honour of their first anniversary!
