Toy show: Kids of all-ages invited to play at Pearkes on Sunday
Lego, Barbies, train sets and costumes galore return to Pearkes recreation centre this weekend during the seventh annual Ultimate Hobby and Toy Fair. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, 170 vendors will host demonstrations and give consumers a chance to pick up the latest toys straight from the source. The event includes a Nerf shooting range in support of the B.C. Children’s Hospital and a silent auction to benefit the Mustard Seed food bank.
“This is the first year with a shooting-range for Nerf, so I think it’s going to be pretty crazy,” said organizer Biagio Woodward of Cherry Bomb Toys. “Kids will be shooting at all the Star Wars characters.”
Lego demonstrations and costumes by Victoria Costumes have also been popular at the fair, which saw 4,500 visitors last year. In addition to door prizes, anyone who arrives in costume will be entered to win prizes.
Admission is free for kids and $3 for adults. Early bird tickets for anyone interested in shopping an hour before the doors open are available through Cherry Bomb Toys.
