Health authority suspends licence at Saanich daycare

A Saanich daycare was shutdown Wednesday after the Vancouver Island Health Authority received complaints that conditions imposed on the daycare had been violated.

The husband of the woman who runs Monkey Tree Daycare on Maplewood Road faces charges for alleged sexual offences against one of the children at the daycare.

According to B.C. Court Services Online, Crown approved charges of of sexual interference of a person under 16 and sexual assault against Douglas Ralph Page.

He was not held in custody and, after a first court appearance on March 28, he is expected back in court on May 29 in Victoria.

Calls to the Monkey Tree Daycare on Thursday were not answered.
