Jewelry store robbed in Saanich

Two men brazenly robbed a jewelry store in the 4200-block of Carey Rd. yesterday, and the suspects are still at large.

Around 4 p.m., two men entered the business with their faces covered and smashed a glass display cabinet, said Saanich police Sgt. Steve Eassie.

"Within seconds, the suspects grabbed a quantity of jewelry and fled the store on foot," Eassie said. The men fled northbound on Carey Road in the direction of Wilkinson Road.

A K9 unit was dispatched but police were unable to locate the suspects.

"Police investigators are making efforts to retrieve video footage from the store," Eassie said. "The video will not be shared with the public at this time."

Anyone who was at or near the jewelry store yesterday around 4 p.m. is asked to contact Saanich police at 250-475-4321 or report anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
