The appointment of the new Saanich CRD director following the sad loss of Vic Derman leaves me, as a taxpayer, with some concern.

The selected member is a young man with a family, who not only works full time for the province, but is a councillor in Saanich, and now has a job as the CRD director. Something doesn’t add up; 35 hours a week for the province, at least 25 hours a week as a councillor, and now 20 hours a week as a CRD board member. That’s an 80-hour week.

How can he possibly fulfil all the requirements of those jobs to the standard we expect and deserve as taxpayers? We need full-time commitment and representation in local government.
