LETTER: Cost of pumpkin cleanup in Mt. Doug Park a scare for taxpayers

The cleanup of the Halloween pumpkins left in Mount Douglas Park involved eight Saanich workers, two Saanich trucks, a tractor, a rented DL bin delivered and a full day of work and wages.

The cleanup of the Halloween pumpkins left in Mount Douglas Park involved eight Saanich workers, two Saanich trucks, a tractor, a rented DL bin delivered and a full day of work and wages.

I think that our community has no idea that so much of our resources and taxpayers’ money is going to clean up the jack-o-lanterns that people drop off in Mount Doug Park after Halloween. Considering that Saanich already provides a household organics bin, why must they also provide all of that labour for some naive citizens who have no idea what happens to the pumpkins they deposit in the park?
