Cochrane adds second gold at Commonwealth Games

Saanich's Ryan Cochrane won his fourth Commonwealth Games gold medal, his second at this year's Games in Glasgow, as he was first in the men's 1,500-metre freestyle swim on Tuesday.

Cochrane, 25, finished with a time of 14 minutes and 44 seconds, more than four seconds ahead of ahead of silver medal winner Mack Horton of Australia and 11 seconds in front of bronze medal winner Daniel Jervis of Wales.

With Cochrane's gold in the men's 400-metre freestyle on Thursday, he has repeated his 2010 success, when he won gold in the 400m and 1,500m freestyles at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, India.

Cochrane has an Olympic bronze (2008) and silver (2012) in the 1,500m and is a graduate of Claremont secondary and the University of Victoria, where he earned a CIS national championship as a Vike.
