Rower Andrew Byrnes needed to check his scissors, after he struggled to cut the ribbon at opening ceremonies for the Athlete Endurance Training Centre at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE).

Jennifer Lowry and her son Brendan Lowry were on hand representing the Mark Lowry Memorial Sport Excellence Fund, which helped finance the cost of the new centre. A former Director of Sport for the Canadian Olympic Committee, Mark Lowry died in 2005.
