Bee day celebration at Swan Lake

Randy Cunningham will answer honeybee questions, and regional bee expert Gord Hutchings will talk about native species

Feel the buzz during the bee day celebration at Swan Lake nature sanctuary on Sunday.

Swan Lake’s own observation hive will be buzzing with builders, foragers and guards as they protect and build the colony around the queen.

Honey bee enthusiast Randy Cunningham will on hand to answer honeybee questions, and regional bee expert Gord Hutchings will talk about native species – mason bees, digger wasps, bumble bees, and leaf-cutter bees.

The event also features exhibits, face painting, honey tasting, bee songs, bee crafts, and waggle-dance lessons for kids of all ages. Swan Lake Nature House, Sunday, May 27, noon to 3 pm. Drop-in anytime. Admission is by donation. See www.swanlake.bc.ca.
