Our Place serves up turkey dinner to Victorians in need

Street population, and other vulnerable citizens will sit down for lunch Thursday

On Thursday (Oct. 4) through the midday meal period, clients of Our Place will be treated to an early Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings.

More than 1,000 of the city's homeless and most vulnerable citizens are expected to sit down to enjoy a meal of turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, stuffing and pie for dessert.

“Thanksgiving is a special time to be grateful and be with loved ones. For many of the people we welcome, we’re the closest family they have,” said Our Place Society executive director Don Evans.  “We want everyone to feel a sense of belonging and enjoy a great meal.”

More than 30 volunteers, including some local politicians, will be serving up the meals and attending to the patrons between 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at Our Place, 919 Pandora Ave.
