The District of Saanich is in the process of updating the Cordova Bay Local Area Plan. Local residents are invited to participate in the process by attending an open house and completing an online survey. The updated local area plan will guide planning and land use decisions in the community over the next 20 to 30 years.

Saanich has initiated the update of all 12 local area plans. Each plan update will include various public input opportunities and take approximately 18 months to complete. The first two local area plans to be updated are the Cordova Bay and Cadboro Bay Local Area Plans. The updated local area plans will help provide direction for growth and change in neighbourhoods and implement the directions of the Official Community Plan.

The district has scheduled a pair of open houses for residents to learn about the Cordova Bay Local Area Plan, and provide input on their vision for the area. An open house is set for Saturday, April 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Cordova Bay elementary school gymnasium, 5238 Cordova Bay Rd. A second open house will be held at the Cordova Bay United Church Fellowship Hall, 813 Claremont Ave., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 2.

There is also a virtual open house and online survey available from April 28 to May 27 at saanich.ca/cordova.

Future opportunities for public input will include a three-day Cordova Bay Village design charrette from May 24 to 26, where community members can contribute to planning the future of this community hub.

Information about public input opportunities for the Cadboro Bay Local Area Plan update will be released soon. The current local area plans for each of Saanich’s 12 Local Areas are available on saanich.ca.
