Saanich is filled with so many unsung heroes who make life better every single day.

Now is the time to turn ‘unsung’ into singing their praises in a public way.

Nominations are open for Saanich News’ inaugural Local Hero Awards.

It’s vital to celebrate the amazing individuals who perform outstanding acts of service in our community so we’re calling on you to help us find those community members who deserve recognition.

We’re looking for that coach who goes above and beyond, the teacher who tirelessly inspires young minds, the community volunteer who puts in hundreds of hours, the emergency responder who puts their life on the line or the seniors champion who makes sure no one is forgotten.

The Local Hero Awards were designed to highlight the powerful stories that make Saanich strong. In total, there are 13 categories of heroes we’re looking to honour.

The awards celebrate a wide range of organizations and individuals, in the form of sponsors, partners, nominees and nominators – to honour community heroes. We’d like to thank our title sponsor, Pepper’s Foods, for joining us in this project.

So it’s time for you to get involved and shine a light on these deserving heroes.

Nominations close at noon on July 28, so don’t wait. We’ll celebrate these local heroes in August with a special publication.
