Victoria in 1862 symposium happens this weekend

History buffs and those interested in city's beginnings encouraged to participate

This weekend, area historians will present a range of fascinating talks relating to Victoria in and around 1862.

The topics for the two-day symposium, set for Sept. 29 and 30, include such points of interest as Arrivals in 1862, First Nations, Bridges and Transportation, Policing in 1862 and Breweries and Saloons.

The symposium takes place at the Odd Fellows Hall, 1315 Douglas St., and costs $105. Lunch is included and preregistration is required. For more information or to sign up, visit victoriahistoricalsociety.bc.ca.
