Some of Greater Victoria’s finest first responders took part in a charity hockey game over the weekend as members of the Victoria and Saanich police departments took the ice against their counterparts on the fire department.

The Victoria Grizzlies junior hockey team also partnered with the groups to help honour first responders during the Guns ‘n Hoses hockey game on Nov. 24.

At stake was the vaunted Gold jersey, won this year by the police squad 3-2, and accepted by Victoria Police Chief Del Manek. The police team also walked away with bragging rights for 2018.

Saturday’s game took place at the Q Centre ahead of the Grizzlies game against Nanaimo, which the home team won 4-2.
