Helmcken House Old-Fashioned Christmas returns for the holiday season, giving visitors the chance to experience what Christmas was like in Victoria more than 100 years ago.

The Royal BC Museum is getting into the holiday spirit this year with several events, including free ones.

The museum offers something for everyone, beginning with WinterFest on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. The event includes a multicultural holiday market and performances.

It won't be the museum's only festive market as the Indigenous Artists Winter Market will take place on Dec. 15 at Clifford Carl Hall.

Other free events include Music at the Museum: The Pandora Chorus on Dec. 7, where the indie pop-rock choir will perform covers of many classic pop and rock songs, and The Helmcken House Old-Fashioned Christmas which allows visitors to experience what Christmas was like in Victoria a hundred years ago.  Running select days Dec. 19-29 from noon to 3 p.m., the oldest house in B.C. still on its original site will have decorations, music and first-hand accounts of Christmas past.

To bring some holiday magic to the museum's regular facilities, a winter solstice Stonehenge tour will be held Dec. 21 included with the price of admission. Additionally, the IMAX Theatre will be showing holiday favourite films: The Polar Express, Elf, and Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch.

Interested visitors can find more information about these events on Royal BC Museum website
