NORTH SAANICH — In two sets, Johana Mui and Laurence Millet won the annual Women’s Doubles tennis tournament at Panorama Recreation Centre on April 8.

The tournament attracted female players from across Vancouver Island and was organized in a triple-knockout format, over three draws during the day. Teams were guaranteed three matches in Panorama’s tennis facility. Finalists included Brenda Dean and Caroline Goff.

“It’s a real privilege to play with all these talented women,” said Mui. “We have some serious competitive players. It’s a great sport for all ages and it’s really special to see the community so involved and supporting tennis.”

Tournament Director and Panorama’s racquet sports director Eric Knoester said there’s a lot of high-calibre tennis t on the Island.

“Local tennis is getting stronger every year,” he said. “Interest in women’s doubles matches is at an all-time high.”
