A Saanich school scored silver with just one loss at senior girls basketball provincials at the Langley Events Centre on March 2.
Pacific Christian School kicked off provincial play with a 64-16 drubbing of Bulkey Valley Christian. The PCS Pacers went on to soundly defeat Cedars Christian 81-37 and narrowly beat Sir Alexander Mackenzie 73-62 to head into the finals.
The gold-medal battle came down to the Unity Christian Flames, seeded second heading into the 16-team tournament, and the No. 1 seeded Pacers.
In a hard-fought final – the only loss of the tournament – PCS fell to the Flames 85-73.
Pacific Christian was led by 34 points from Grade 12 guard Kealayna Tupas-Singh who was named Most Outstanding Defensive Player. Teammate Abi Ellison – a First Team All-Star – added 23 points for the Pacers.
