Explore a magical world of imagination, friendship and the pursuit of what truly matters with Rachel Portman's fantastic and poignant The Little Prince, on stage this February at the Royal Theatre.

“As far as operas go, The Little Prince is a fairly recent creation, having only been written in 2003. It follows the same storyline as the beloved 1943 children’s book by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry,” says Pacific Opera Victoria’s Artistic Director, Brenna Corner. “It features beautiful music and stunning visuals, performed in English. While it’s designed for a younger audience, it's equally impactful and enjoyable for adults.”

Performed on Feb. 19, 21 and 25 at 7:30 p.m., with a matinee on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 2:30 p.m., The Little Prince follows the journey of a young prince who travels from planet to planet, encountering eccentric characters and learning valuable life lessons in love, friendship and the complexities of adulthood.

“The prince’s exploration of the human condition resonates deeply with audiences of all ages, inviting them to reflect on their own lives and relationships,” Corner says.

“The Little Prince is a perfect opportunity to welcome audience members of all ages to the magical world of live theatre performances and captivate young audience members in an age-appropriate way,” Corner says. “Portman’s ability to evoke emotion through music elevates this classic tale to new heights, leaving audiences spellbound from beginning to end.”
