One police officer left with non-life-threatening injuries

One Victoria police officer was left with non-life threatening injuries after a driver fled from police Tuesday morning.

Just after 10:30 a.m. patrol officers attempted to stop a vehicle near the intersection of Cook Street and Pandora Avenue, but the driver refused to stop and fled, according to a statement from the Victoria Police Department.

The suspect collided with a parked car at Quadra and North Park streets shortly after, and the occupants of the fleeing vehicle were taken into custody. One occupant was taken to hospital and a VicPD officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators closed Quadra Street between Fisgard Street and Caledonia Avenue, where a silver Ford van could be seen boxed in by police vehicles.

The area is now open to traffic. The incident remains under investigation.
