Cab driver faces impaired charges stemming from summer crash

A 27-year-old cab driver faces charges relating to an incident last August in which he allegedly sped through an intersection and crashed his taxi into a townhouse near Tillicum Centre.

Just after 2 p.m., Aug. 8, 2010, police found the man unconscious in the cab, which had come to stop against the wall of a home on Tillicum Road at Regina Ave.

A lengthy investigation led to two search warrants, a mechanical inspection of the vehicle and the seizure of video from the taxi.

Saanich resident Kuljiwan Singh Sekhon was charged with one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle and operation of a vehicle while impaired by drugs.

He will appear in court next month.
