Computer store burglarized through hole in the wall

Glass panel window at vacant store next door had been removed and a hole was discovered in the drywall wall connecting the two stores.

Businesses are being reminded to review their security practices after a computer store was entered through a hole in the wall of a vacant store next door.

Around 2 a.m., Saturday (April 14), Saanich police responded to an alarm call at WestWorld Computers in the 3200-block of Douglas St.

When officers arrived, they found none of the store’s glass windows or doors had been breached.

An officer did notice, however, that a glass panel window at the vacant store next door had been removed. Upon further inspection, a hole was discovered in the drywall wall that connects the two stores.

It is believed the thief or thieves stole 10 iPad tablets from WestWorld in the break-in.

“(Business owners) should take this as a warning to look at their security procedures,” said Sgt. Dean Jantzen. “A drywall wall doesn’t amount to much in the way of security.”

Police are asking anyone with information on this incident to call 250-475-4321.
