There’s has been a report of a cougar sighting in the heart of Saanich early Saturday morning. Police say the employees of a business in the 900 block of Cloverdale Ave. saw the animal and that it was “larger than a German shepherd and definitely a cougar.”

Police also noted that a nearby home is keeping chickens, which could have attracted the cougar to the area.
