The victims and perpetrators of the brazen home invasion in Saanich on Wednesday morning knew each other.

The invastion took place at about 11 a.m. in the 4700 block of Rosehill Rd. According to Saanich Police, an unconfirmed number of men entered the residence and two men were inside.

At about 3 p.m. on Wednesday a citizen named Michael Ho captured video of Saanich Police arresting multiple people on Quadra Street (by Saanich Centre, just south of McKenzie Ave.) of what are believed to be the perpetrators of the invasion.

Police did not answer questions about the relationship of the victims and the suspects, citing the ongoing nature of their investigation.

“They [the perpetrators] are known to them [the victims],” said Sgt. Jereme Leslie of the Saanich Police, who called the incident a “targeted event.”

Leslie said the “fluid” nature of the investigation also prevents him from commenting on whether the suspects remain at large. He also declined to answer questions about whether money might have been involved.

Leslie promised police will release more information Thursday.

“Two men were inside the residence when the unconfirmed amount of people entered the home and took belongings from inside,” said Leslie. “One of the victims was injured during the incident and received non-life threatening injuries.”

Yellow police tape cordoned off the house, when the Saanich News arrived on scene. Four residents including a woman, who later identified herself as a resident of the home involved, stood and talked in the street as two police vehicles kept watch.

All four refused to answers questions about the incident when the Saanich News approached them for information. One of them, however, could be heard expressing her astonishment about the incident while talking with one of the female police officers guarding the scene.

Two plain-clothes officers arrived shortly on scene, but also refused to answer questions.
