Hit-and-runs land three drivers with big fines

Three parked cars hit last week, offending drivers must pay nearly $200

Three vehicles were damaged in hit-and-runs in parking lots in Oak Bay.

One was hit last Wednesday in the 2600-block of Bowker Ave. at 10:30 a.m.; on Thursday, a second car was hit in the 1100-block of Monterey Ave. at 6:45 p.m., and another in the Fairway Market lot on Oak Bay Avenue at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Good Samaritans caught the faulted drivers’ licence plates in all three, and Oak Bay officers issued each driver a fine of $196.

Drivers who hit another vehicle are required to leave a note with contact information at the scene or get ahold of the driver of the damaged car in some way, according to the Motor Vehicle Act.
