A visiting hockey team from Banff, Alberta, was forced to play a game in Victoria in borrowed gear after their jerseys and equipment were stolen.

The international-playing midget team reported on Dec. 14 that their gear was stolen from a locked trailer parked at their Douglas Street hotel. Both their home and away jerseys, as well as some of the goalie’s gear, had been taken overnight.

VicPD said the team colours are black, gold and white, with “Banff Academy” written on the front of each.

The goalie’s gear included a blocker, catcher, chest and shoulder protector as well as pants and a goalie mask, all with CCM branding.

VicPD is asking anyone with information about the incident or the location of the equipment by calling 250-995-7654 or Crime Stoppers.
