Inspectors to give update on Victoria homicide case

Remains of Victoria senior Richard “Blair” Young were found on the Malahat in 2017

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit (VIIMCU) will be giving updates on a two-year investigation into the homicide of Victoria senior Richard “Blair” Young.

On Feb. 7, 2017 the 72-year-old man went missing, and his family reported it to police one week later.

On March 3, police recovered human remains near the Malahat summit, and identified them as Young’s.

Police ruled the death as a homicide, but did not release the cause of death at the time.

A media advisory is scheduled for Thursday, shortly after the two-year anniversary of finding Young’s remains. Lead Inspector David Hall will be speaking at the time.
