Renovations are coming to Mount Douglas secondary with $800,000 pegged for window and flooring upgrades.

The funding will replace the gymnasium flooring in the 58-year-old building that first opened as Gordon Head junior secondary.

In total, the Greater Victoria School District 61 is receiving $4,783,030 from the provincial government. The other $3,983,030 is going into an annual facilities grant for SD61 to cover routine school maintenance costs.

These funding programs are part of a $198 million provincial investment under the Annual Facilities Grant, School Enhancement Program, Carbon Neutral Capital Program and Bus Replacement Program, to support maintained learning environments, and bus services that are safe, comfortable and efficient, said a release from the province.

As part of the funding Saanich’s Lochside elementary is receiving $980,000 for an HVAC system upgrade. SD63 is receiving a total of $2,483,270, with $1,503,270 towards an annual facilities grant.
