This was the scene of a collision Wednesday evening in the 3900 block of Cedar Hill Cross Road that sent a 20-year-old man to hospital with life-threatenting injuries.

A pedestrian was taken to hospital with what police describe as “life-threatening conditions” following a serious motor vehicle collision Wednesday evening in the 3900 block of Cedar Hill Cross Road.

The 20-year-old man suffered the injuries when he was struck by a 1999 Black Chevrolet Tracker just before 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The vehicle — whose driver had “possibly suffered a medical event,” according to acting Sgt. Jereme Leslie — was travelling east on Cedar Hill Cross Road when it crossed into oncoming traffic.

It went onto the sidewalk, struck the pedestrian, and crashed through a fence before finally coming to a rest at the corner of Cedar Hill Cross Road and Marjean Place, Leslie said.

An ambulance transported the injured pedestrian to a local hospital.

“The driver of the vehicle remained on scene until (Saanich Police) arrived and was later taken to the hospital as well,” he added.

Traffic in the area was closed for several hours as investigators with the Saanich Police Crash Analyst Team gathered evidence.

Leslie could not say Thursday morning what if any charges are facing the driver.

Police are looking for witnesses to the incident.
