Police arrest Oak Bay resident for flower shop thefts

Old Fashioned Flower Shop victimized three times in four months

With help from the Saanich Police Forensic Identification Unit, the Oak Bay Police have solved a string of break enter and thefts to the Old Fashioned Flowers Shop, at 2857 Foul Bay Road.

On Nov. 30, last year the flower shop reported a theft on an undisclosed amount of cash. An employee reported leaving the business office for a few minutes during the afternoon, and on returning, found that cash had been taken from the till.

On Jan. 6, the shop reported the theft of an undisclosed amount of cash from the business which would have occurred sometime overnight. No sign of forced entry was detected by the police.

On Feb. 11, the Old Fashioned Flower Shop again reported an overnight break and enter to the business and the theft of a computer. Evidence found at the scene potentially linked a specific person to the crime. Subsequent investigation resulted in the Oak Bay Police recommending three counts of Break Enter and Theft against a 32-year-old Oak Bay resident.
