Public fruit trees planted at Rutledge Park

Local nursery, Saanich and CRD partner to plant fruit trees

Denise Guenther from Saanich Parks and John Schmuck of the Quadra Cedar Hill Community Association plant an apple tree in Rutledge Park. Saanich’s Le Coteau Nursery and the CRD partnered to award 150 fruit trees and shrubs to be planted across the region. The Quadra Cedar Hill association applied for four fruit trees, apple and plum, and planted then next to three (producing) heritage fruit trees by the tennis court in Rutledge Park. There are already blossoms on the adolescent trees and the fruit is availalbe to the public to consume. Peter Haddon photo
