Saanich Police converged on a home on the 1800 block of Elmhurst Drive Wednesday night after an officer observed what appeared to be a handgun through an open window.

Saanich Police were able to make contact with the resident of the home at about 11 p.m., and the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team was called in for assistance. The man was taken into custody several hours later without incident.

Police obtained a search warrant and discovered three replica firearms inside the home, which were seized.

A 26-year-old Saanich man, who is known to police, was found to be breaching several court-imposed conditions. Police are recommending five charges of breaching a recognizance.
