Saanich council approves loans

Projects worth more than $7 million given the green light

Saanich council authorized the borrowing of more than $7 million at its last meeting for a range of upcoming projects and programs by the district.

On Monday, council gave final reading to six bylaws, putting their stamp on seven requests for loans. The money was approved to cover the construction of improvements to the sewer and drainage systems (each up to $1.5 million), transportation infrastructure (up to $2 million), parks infrastructure (up to $1.3 million) and community facilities (up to $195,800).

Council also approved borrowing a maximum of $836,630 to pay for the boiler replacement at the Gordon Head Recreation Centre.
