Saanich fire fighters ratified a new collective agreement with the municipality. The two-year retroactive deal includes an overall six per cent wage increase (three per cent each year).
The term of the contract is Jan. 1, 2010 to Dec. 21, 2011. In addition to the pay hike, the agreement includes benefit plan reductions and improvements to service pay.
Negotiations for the 2012-2013 contract have not yet begun.
