A Saanich man is facing drug charges following the Feb. 17 raid on a Halibruton Road home.

Manjit Singh Guray, 33, appeared in Victoria provincial court Thursday, facing a charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Saanich Police report evidence that supports a drug trafficking charge was found inside the home, but the release, issued six days after the arrest, didn’t indicate what exactly was found.

Yeah, that’s right it doesn’t,” said acting Sgt. Jereme Leslie with the Saanich Police. “We’re not going to speculate at this time what type of drugs have been seized.”

Leslie said he doesn’t know the quantity or value of the drugs seized, and admitted it is somewhat unusual for a drug bust to be clouded in such secrecy.

“The important thing really is to remember that we are continuing to target criminals from setting up shop in Saanich,” he said. “That’s really our No. 1 priority, to continue to make sure Saanich is a safe place to live.”
