Stabbing sends Saanich man to hospital Friday night

A 58-year-old Saanich man is in serious but stable condition at Victoria General Hospital following a stabbing in Saanich late Friday night.

A 58-year-old Saanich man is in serious but stable condition at Victoria General Hospital following a stabbing in Saanich late Friday night.

Police and paramedics responded to a home in the 600 block of Gorge Rd. West shortly after 11 p.m. Friday night.

The stabbing victim had run to the home of a next-door neighbour and was bleeding profusely from several injuries.

Police arrested a 46-year-old man at the scene. He is in Saanich police custody while the investigation continues.

The two men are known to one another. No further information is available at this point regarding any possible motive for the stabbing or regarding the type of weapon or exact nature of the victim’s injuries.

Detective and forensic investigators were awaiting a search warrant Saturday morning before conducting further follow-up investigation throughout the day.

The 46-year-old suspect is expected to have a TeleBail hearing from the Saanich police headquarters during the late afternoon or early evening Saturday.
