Suspected drug dealers make first court appearance

Two men charged with trafficking and possession of heroin made their first court appearance Wednesday after being arrested by the Victoria police's strike force.

In March, the strike force got information that the Saanich men were operating a dial-a-dope operation throughout the region.

Officers kept the men under surveillance and went undercover to buy heroin. On March 30, they arrested one man in his vehicle in the 800-block of Esquimalt Road, with assistance from the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team.

The 49-year-old man was arrested in the pair's residence in the 4000-block of Quadra Street. Also seized from the house was almost $15,000 worth of heroin and other drug trafficking equipment.
