A patrol officer with a keen sense of smell, conducting traffic enforcement along Shelbourne Street, helped uncover a marijuana grow operation this week.
The officer noticed the odour of marijuana coming from one of the houses in the 4100-block of Shelbourne St. three weeks ago. This week, Saanich police executed a search warrant on a home where police found more than 100 plants in the basement.
Saanich police arrested an adult male, and cultivation and trafficking charges will likely be forwarded, said Sgt. Dean Jantzen.
