Two nine-week old kittens were returned to the Pacific Cat Clinic Friday morning after they were stolen Thursday night.
The kittens were in the clinic’s front display window where many people come in to visit and pet them as they await adoption.
Two teenage girls were the last visitors to come in as clinic staff were wrapping up the day.
When Lee Penner and Danielle Parsons, both veterinary technicians who were on duty, turned around the kittens were gone.

“We were in shock, we didn’t know what to do, we kept looking behind every door,” Penner said.
They both contacted the police, the BCSPCA and sent out messages across social media. The online message spread rapidly, eventually reaching family and friends of the two girls.
“They put two and two together and knew what was up,” Parsons said. “They took the kittens from the girls and took care of them overnight for us before bringing them in this morning.”

Parsons said they didn’t ask too many questions, and were just glad to have the kittens returned.
“They’re both doing just fine,” she said.
Now, staff need to decide if any more security measures will need to be put in place to protect the kittens from future incidents.
“Part of our culture here is that we’re open to everyone,” Parsons said. “Hopefully we don’t need to do anything too drastic.”
