UPDATE: Cooking oil spills on the Pat Bay

Clean-up crews respond after truck drops load, 60 litres of cooking oil spills on to highway

Sixty litres of cooking oil spilled onto the Pay Bay Highway Friday morning.

Saanich police say a truck was turning from Sayward Road onto the highway around 9 a.m. when its load shifted, and part of it flipped onto the highway at the intersection.

Traffic in the area was impacted for about three hours until the road was cleared.

The driver of the truck was issued a $288 ticket for driving with an insecure load.
