Celebrate Valentine’s Day with Jewish love songs and stories at the Jewish Community Centre of Victoria.

Canada’s first ordained Maggidah, or Jewish storyteller, Shoshana Litman and world folk music duo Kouskous, Gary Cohen and Amber Woods present an evening of entertainment tomorrow (Feb.12) at the centre, 3636 Shelbourne St.

Experience diverse Jewish perspectives on love through words and melodies inspired by major Jewish cultural figures, philosophers and storytellers such as Martin Buber, Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, Penninah Schramm and Yehuda Halevy. Songs will be performed in Ladino (Judeo Spanish), Hebrew, Yemenite-Hebrew and Yiddish.

This concert is hostaed and sponsored by the Victoria Society for Humanistic Judaism, a community of secular Jews who celebrate Jewish culture in non-theistic ways. The event is open to anyone who identifies with Jewish history and culture from a humanistic perspective.
