After a day of Christmas revelry, it seems Santa is relaxing at home, and so are many holiday shoppers in the West Shore.

While the Best Buy parking lot in Langford was packed on Boxing Day, Costco and the Westshore Town Centre saw fewer crowds than some shoppers expected.

Melanie Cyr and Andrew Murphy stopped by Costco on Wednesday to pick up a toilet, of all things.

“We have company over and one of our toilets broke downstairs so we have to replace it,” Murphy said.

Both Murphy and Cyr said Costco was not too busy, however, they stopped by Mayfair Shopping Centre earlier and said it was crowded.

“It’s ridiculous,” Murphy said.

Janine Bolton and her son, Ryder, were on their way into Langford’s Best Buy late Thursday morning after shopping at Hillside Shopping Centre and EB Games.

Bolton said Boxing Day and Black Friday are big shopping days for her.

“We’ve been everywhere, we bought a television…and now we’re here…again,” Bolton said.

Meanwhile, John and Marian Sanderson said they prefer to stay out of the busy shopping areas on Boxing Day. The two of them just made a quick stop at Best Buy to purchase a new tablet.

“We came for one thing and we got it and we’re out of here,” John said.

Marian said Best Buy was busy but the employees were very prompt.

Over at the Westshore Town Centre, Marion Duncan took advantage of deals to get her Christmas shopping for next year out of the way.

“Every year, I buy for next year,” Duncan said.

The mall was fairly quiet, which Duncan said she appreciated.

“Maybe everybody is still out celebrating but it’s just nice and relaxed,” Duncan said. “You can move around, it’s really comfortable.”
