West Shore RCMP seek women missing panties

Man found in Witty's Lagoon bathroom with backpack full of women's underwear

RCMP recovered a bag full of panties when they responded to a call about a drunk man near Witty’s Lagoon late last month.

The male in his late 40s was discovered in the washrooms at Witty’s Lagoon on July 29 at 11 p.m. He was drunk and passed out, and found with a backpack full of about 20 pairs of women’s and girl’s underwear.

The man was taken to the detachment to stay in a cell until he sobered up.

When questioned about the undergarments, he said they were his, but RCMP do not believe his story. They say the panties appear to have been worn by women.

“We want to know where the clothing came from and to know if any girls or women have underwear missing,” said Sgt. Max Fossum of West Shore RCMP. “We seized all the clothing.”

The male has a criminal record for a sexual assault occurring more than 10 years ago.

RCMP were alerted about the male after receiving a 911 call from a homeowner near Witty’s Lagoon who said the man was knocking at the door asking to come in because he was cold.

No charges have been laid against the man, and it’s likely he will only be charged if women come forward identifying their stolen underwear.

RCMP are asking anyone who has had any underwear stolen to call the West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
