Woman in custody bites Saanich cop

A Saanich police officer is nursing a sore bicep after being bit by a woman last weekend while she in custody.

Officers arrested a man and a woman after a domestic dispute in the 1000-block of Tulip Ave. Friday night. The male involved was arrested on suspicions of assault, while the woman was arrested for mischief after allegedly damaging a car.

The woman was returned to the Saanich Police Department on Vernon Avenue where, while being held in an interview room, she requested to speak with a lawyer.

When an officer returned with a telephone, she attempted to flee, resulting in a physical confrontation to restrain the woman during which she bit his arm.

She now faces charges of assaulting a police officer, and mischief for damages to the car.
