August 3, 2018
Garry Vincent Upton (Gramps, Gare bear, Grandpa, Grizzle, Uncle Garry, Daddy, Dad, Pops, Sweetheart) passed away in his home in North Saanich on August 3rd 2018, surrounded by love and the Beatles.

To Garry, a stranger was just a friend that he hadn't met yet. Anyone who knew him knows that he was never short of words, had no filter, and was intentionally unresponsive to the cold shoulder. He was able to get your life story in the first five minutes of speaking to you, and was never stingy with hugs. He truly believed there was so much good in everyone, and he was willing to put the time in to find it. He made it his personal mission to crack a smile out of everyone.

Garry made an impression on everyone he met throughout his extensive travels. His passion was his family, and he was lucky to have had 10 amazing (but too short) years with his 'Lovely Lady' 'My Corrinne'. Combined they have 9 children (The Brady Bunch!) and his 6.5 beautiful Grandchildren were the light of his life. People were Garry's passion; being there for them, and making them feel good. He spent his time volunteering and being the Fearless Leader of his beloved Mens Group at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Extended Care Unit and was a proud member of the Sidney by the Sea Rotary.

Wherever he is now, we know he is looking down at us; wearing a silly hat, enjoying his spam sandwiches, and a coffee with an extra shot.

And, he wanted everyone to know... it wasn't gas. Group Hug.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Extended Care Unit- Vancouver Island.
