In his July 25 column, Tom Fletcher trumpets “Unions regain control of public construction” in the same manner as “the sun has set today,” as though it is a once-in-a-lifetime curse.

Union membership waxes and wanes, Mr. Fletcher. It is neither a portent nor a blessing. Rest assured, when things slow down (and the NDP is not re-elected?), your “free market economy” will rise to the fore, personal and business bankruptcies will surge – and the provincial coffers will continue to be drained.
