LETTER: Pot clouds thoughts of painful reality

Medical marijuana has been legal for quite a while. Now there is a lot of noise about legalizing marijuana for the reason to get people high. Alcohol was a danger on the roads and now we have to deal with people who can’t even be checked for using dope while driving. It gives the impression that most Canadians can’t wait to finally get it over the counter.

I find it amazing, disturbing, unbelievable that we don’t have this kind of noise about polluting our globe. Our waters are toxic and full of plastic. Bees, birds and other animals die and we don’t pay much attention. Icebergs are melting, climate is changing and our weather has become more and more unpredictable. This is the earth we inhabit and our children and grand children will have to deal with a future which is uncertain at its best. There are more refugees than ever again and our attention span is a very short one. To short to have empathy and anyhow, what can we do about.

Isn’t it wonderful that Canadians can soon dull their senses with getting high. It might soon be the only way to deal with reality.
