LETTER: Saanich will accomplish nothing by banning single–use plastic bags

Saanich banning single-use plastic bags? According to the article in the Jan. 4 edition, each of these flimsy bags costs about $1. What portion of that is printing of the store’s name?

If the carry-out bags are single-use, what are the smaller plastic bags in which fruit and vegetables are wrapped? And what about the plastic in or around processed foods of virtually every type?

None of the plastic bags I get are single use. I have varied uses for every size. So what’s to be accomplished by banning the carry-out bags? How do these bags end up in the ocean anyway?
